Over many years, we have been fortunate to work with employers and clients who have had interesting internet problems to solve. Here are just a few of the 60-plus internet projects we have worked on since 1995.
Long Island Convention & Visitors Bureau
Goals
Create a new website that matched their upcoming marketing campaign. Build the website in a way that makes it easy for staff to change the interface design to reflect future marketing campaigns. Organize their website content so visitors could accomplish their tasks more quickly. Provide lower-cost webhosting. Provide richer website activity reporting. Help them set up an internal email marketing capability to help reduce costs and increase the number of emails they can send. Set up an online advertising capability for their new site.

Results
Their new website interface design and email marketing templates reflect their current marketing campaigns. We provided a custom content management tool that allows staff and LICVB members to maintain site content. A move to a new webhosting service slashed their webhosting costs. We set them up with a low cost email delivery service then trained internal staff how to create and send emails using their new email templates. For website activity reporting, we created a customized website activity reporting capability as well as better off the shelf reporting tools. And, finally, we set up a website advertising capability they can use to sell ads to their members.

Advantage Homes, LLC
Goals
Redesign their internet website. Get control of over 300 email leads generated monthly from their website. Train internal staff to manage their internet projects to reduce ongoing costs. Develop an efficient and effective email marketing program.

Results
We built a basic lead tracking tool that allows Advantage Homes to see how many leads are generated for their 15+ sales offices and the revenue generated by those leads. The lead tracking tool also lets sales managers assign leads and sales agents to update their leads. To train internal staff, we worked with their marketing manager to create the website design RFP (Request for Proposal), helped her evaluate the responses, hire the design firm, and manage the creation of the new website design. We also helped Advantage Homes create two-step email marketing campaigns to advertise their open house events to people who submit email addresses through their new website. These email campaigns generate 30-50% open rates, 15-30% clickthroughs, less than 5% unsubscribes, and additional sales from their website leads. We also set them up with Macromedia Contribute to let their sales offices maintain their office subsites.

Becker + Becker
Goals
Work with a graphic designer and this architecture firm to redesign their internet website to make it easier to publish content.

Results
We re-coded their website so that the content is seperate from the navigation links and interface design. We set them up with Macromedia Contribute to publish content. We organized their website file structure so that their portfolio images are more easily found and updated.

MRK Photo
Goals
Provide ongoing website maintenance and creation of new pages.

Results
When we inherited the site, there were little or no original art files and the underlying code was complex and, therefore, difficult to understand and maintain. We rebuilt all the underlying code to make it easy to add or delete content. We recreated the art files for the interface design so that adding new pages did not 'break' the design by using different fonts. We designed and added a Press page to highlight their appearances on Martha Stewart, the DeGeneres show, and other terrific achievements.
Oxford Health Plans
Goals
Hired as staff to manage their internet marketing group. Asked to work with marketing, IT, and customer service staff to rebuild their internet website to be more useful to their audiences and reduce telephone support costs.

Results
The new website won a CIO 50/50 Best of the Web award in 2000 (other winners included FedEx and GE), as well as healthcare industry awards. Instead of a website that met the needs of 4-5 audiences, the new site design addressed all 9 audiences who used their website. The new site also reduced telephone support costs by placing online transactions on the home page.
